All the food served at the homestay is prepared daily by Priya, an excellent cook who knows a large variety of meals, both sweet and salty, and all with tasty seasoning. All the ingredients are grown locally. Most of them come from the luxurious garden of the homestay and are produced organically: pineapples, papayas, mangos, coconuts, champa, sapota, black pepper, cocoa, coffee, curry leaves, ginger, etc.

Here are some of the traditional Kerala cuisines that you can try learning as part of the cooking classes we offer.

Sadya

Sadya is a must-have for almost all of traditional Kerala celebrations. Usually served in banana leaf, sadya comes with rice placed at the center of the banana leaf and all the side dishes such as pachadi kichadi, olan, thoran, aviyal.

One can never go hungry after eating a full meal of Sadya!

Erissery

Usually prepared by boiling sweet pumpkins with chilly, salt, pepper, lentils, coconut, turmeric powder, garlic. Goes well with Kerala style rice. Erissery is a must-have dish especially during festivals such as Onam.

Puttu And Kadala Curry

Steam cooked rice Puttu, is perhaps the most famous breakfast dish that every Malayali eats. Grated coconut is added in between the rice to add more flavors and for better taste. Puttu can be eaten with ripe bananas as well.

Dosa with Sambar

Made up of rice and lentils, a Dosa is best served with coconut chutney or sambar.

Idli with Sambar

A fermented rice cake best enjoyed with Chutney and Sambar.

Kerala style spicy chicken fry

The Kerala spicy chicken fry that has the touch will stand out from everything you have ever had. It is prepared with onion, garlic, vinegar, and many spices and can be enjoyed along with Chapathis or Kerala style rice.
